Of the hoped for future and destiny

4. In which time forgives sins
And rights that were usurped are restored

5. With this porch and this courtyard
Your unity is achieved and coalesced

6. Delegations circle it, exclaiming
Like pilgrims circling that sacred mosque

7. Neither Ramesses boasted of its like
In majesty, nor did the pyramids equal it

8. The conquests of kingdoms never attained
What you achieved on your day, nor fulfilled pacts

9. A trusted, declared allegiance
To you from its secrets that which was concealed

10. Indeed the Turks admired your words
And the non-Arabs magnified your deeds

11. Rumors of it flew on telegrams
Outpacing good news and blood

12. Enduring beliefs in hearts
You established, as firm as a pyramid

13. And whoever lived to see this endeavor
Knew that honor comes to one who perseveres

14. And one who doubted your purpose returned
As a witness, having accused and blamed you

15. Adorning himself after harming you, and humbling himself
He undertook his goal frowning

16. And returned smiling and cheerful
To what end? Or to what limit

17. Do his aspirations obligate you to what you have obliged?
Will the horizon clear or be struck

18. By a storm after this breeze?
Had he known the consequences of contention

19. In truth, in an age we do not determine
He would offer you what is his

20. And what is against you he would leave to your choice, if divided
Neither can it be said one party was wronged

21. Nor can it be said one party was unjust
This lament would be lost to Egypt

22. If every house were not united
And I am not reassured or content

23. With one who is ready but did not sleep
I prepare fighters on both paths

24. And whoever controls both paths, I will confront
Does the wolf abandon his ways

25. If the wolf wears sheep's clothing?
Or spare the sweet thing he craves

26. When he never spared ruinous ruins?
Can the deaf adder hear

27. The fangs of one weighed down by greed?
The wickedness of one who trembles

28. At what he has transgressed against others and retreated
That which he said is no proof

29. People are accustomed to this melody
The lost may pretend confusion

30. Though anxiety and pain fill their minds
Does he claim your kingdom as his own?

31. While the horrors of Doomsday, as he claims, await
Can he seize the pillars

32. Of souls with his spearheads?
You did not make the aggressor retreat

33. As your fathers did, with forbearance and dignity
You have what you want tomorrow of provisions

34. And he has what he intended and resolved
Your unity and patience are enough for you

35. As your strength and refuge
Were it not for your stands in the country

36. It would have been devastated by fate and ruined
If the sea contained what you do

37. Of zeal for truth, it would have ignited
If the lofty mountain bore

38. What you bear for Egypt, it would have collapsed
I testify to what the hidden realm contains

39. For you, and foresee what has not yet been cast
Whoever speaks frankly with people will see

40. Today his opportunity, so seize it
You have a king and minister who

41. Guarantee your esteemed destiny
One has advised as you desired

42. The other ruled as you desired
The protector has yielded his authority

43. To the just and free one who assumed it
Who took it with confident composure

44. Not despair or fatigue
How excellent is pardon from one able

45. When a hater has been sated and avenged
The bully of the land will fade away

46. And the generous of manner will remain
There is no power save for reformers

47. No rule but for those with resolve
I came to the festival of the land

48. Bearing the pains of resentment and illness
I am none but the companion who

49. Kept pacts and oaths
I came with chivalry in my endeavor

50. And arrived with revelation in what I composed
Coming and going in the season of discourse
