I ready for the road where all roads end.

5. My friends were part of me, now we're apart -
After friends are gone, I mourn my loneliness.

6. Calamities of loss and captivity
Afflict us equally, though caused by foes.

7. I live in a house, ignorant of what's within,
And look to another I cannot comprehend.

8. Ambergris of the valley! The breeze carries
Your scent - time cannot age or cause it to fade.

9. What drew you away from me, my solace?
Now separation readies the tears that flow.

10. I spoke of a pact that only the noble keep,
And the generous honor, among my people.

11. My tears for you suffice, as does my blood
Shed for love of you, in time's arena.

12. However long each living thing endures,
Whether swiftly or slowly, all will perish.

13. And I remain amongst your books, content
To read, recite and memorize them.

14. I keep your merit alive though you are gone,
If my feats equal yours in merit and worth.

15. The world and its people mean little to me,
Though I gain no words or deeds from them.
