1. O ruler whose wisdom encompassed the world,
And spreader of justice, which is most vast,

2. And bearer of the shining crown, as if
It were embellished with the flowers of bright stars,

3. And subduer of evildoers with the power
To which the protected flees and takes refuge,

4. And sovereign of the sea, whose surging waves
Are fleets protecting what you ruled and guarded,

5. And opener of lands, East and West,
So that no sunrise is hidden from them,

6. And mother of kings striding toward glory,
For all are keen on kingship and conquest,

7. Did demise come to you after eighty, extinguishing
The light of a life that shone upon the earth,

8. And no band surrounding and guarding you,
Nor another pleading for your healing?

9. So you grieved a loyal people whose love for you
Made them ache in their sorrows,

10. And benevolence nearly melted from the blaze of yearning,
And the sea, which is more tumultuous, grew turbulent,

11. And you left an army whose arrows of adversity
With your death struck their livers,

12. They had been striving to please you with their raids
And in your name ravaging enemies and crushing them,

13. But are their feet steady today, while anguish
Ruins the steadfastness it ruins?

14. This death has now become a lesson
