1. My heart has been delighting in rapture
Frolicking with beauties in play

2. Hope has returned to your life laughing
Like the return of spring to your hoary temples

3. The vicissitudes of time did not frighten you
They passed for you to forget a home and a beloved

4. Renew your passion if India did not cease
To tend to your reins remotely and closely

5. What is upon the longing lover in his recollection if
The beloved was faithful, amorous and intimate

6. A beauty never monopolized a yearner
Except to sweeten his life and make it good

7. Me and passion are two familiars whom one did not see
In the other a place of doubt and suspicion

8. I am content with His decree and meet His injustice
With justice, and disobey blame and reproach

9. And it benefits me in manners and benevolence even if
I suffered from it distress and torment

10. Indeed youth and beauty shared
My mind so I am not inclined to guidance

11. O India enough of your lover that he
Has become a captive in your hands stripped

12. Have you destined for me a share so I remain a lover
Or are you preventing fate's loyalty

13. Show me tenderness by which I live or cruelty
To the youth you gloat a rival and observer

14. More deserving of the purity of living is a garden bird
Who sings while birds think it a stranger

15. And most deserving of preference is a nation's poet
Who still calls upon it and responds to it

16. If he leaves the country of his companion
He fills the country with reminiscence and weeping

17. And overflows on its holidays with joy so he did not
Leave in it a distressed anguished one

18. O freshness of the time in which
Abbas has uncovered to it his frowning face

19. It is inevitable for the son of the Nile to commemorate an emergence
For you which illuminated eyes and hearts

20. The celebration of accession likened you to the world which
Forgot eras past that went and worries

21. I will indulge my sights roaming
I meet pleasures in you of every kind

22. And I see in every city an adornment for you
And in every club one calling and orating

23. And the land sends its arrows like lines
The sky sends its beloved greetings

24. Or they are pillars raised high
And prevented from their longing's aim

25. As if the light cut the stars
That followed a wondrous orbit in the sky

26. Or they are doves unleashed by no
Hunter seeking escape in the horizon

27. Or they are fruit centered in a valley
Played with by the fertile breeze

28. As if lining behind it the soil
Throws it so a skillful hand hits it

29. And the moon is your face O son of Tawfiq so no
One comes near to touch it and it is not veiled

30. And it is as if those delegations are regiments
For the conquest you arranged and organized

31. The whispers embody their faces as
Your inscribed name is colored by the light

32. He who revived the countries with their Nile
To you returns their usurped glory

33. You granted its noble throne and granted it
Justice so you were the granter and granted

34. The nations cannot attain from it a battleground
As long as you critique and calculate among them

35. And they will succeed as those before them succeeded
Nations of graver events and wars

36. Seeking to make us forget with the promise of contentment
A sin those past committed and sins

37. We do indeed hope after your emergence which
Dazzled your envious with a cry and awoke

38. The homelands do not feel safe from the betrayal of their time
And its side harbors a mighty awe

39. Until its surface remains luminous
With the blood of enemies and its banner bloodied

40. Your connection to the Caliph is a guarantor
To return the aggressor terrified and defeated

41. And the clear proof in your hand which
Opened a wide field for holy war

42. And the East still most deserves its sun
Even if it prolonged setting upon it

43. If it did not intend return and its illumination
Higher and more beautiful it would not have set

44. It built glories and rested and it
Will rise stronger than its predecessor awe-inspiring

45. It has returned an infant in the crib heralding
After graying that it will be esteemed

46. And it grows with your care O son of Tawfiq
A care that returns white hair to youth

47. O holder of the two thrones this is your possession
Egypt and its Sudan and Nuba

48. And director of the two armies this victor
Protects the north and travels south

49. And supporter of Islam with knowledge that
Has become shading tribes and people

50. My two retinues have been refined by the favors that
Refined in you my poems with discipline

51. So yours are the praises whenever a despairing
Hope is realized and the rewarded is remembered
