1. O leader of the free, in word and deed,
Return to power, making justice prevail.

2. Yesterday you left exalted, and I wished
You an eternal rule, for you are glorious.

3. He who holds the reins has granted you
Authority. Blessed is he who assumed it and delegated it.

4. I gained some of Egypt thanks to you ten years ago.
Today I ask for it all from you.

5. You took it as a messenger for the blessings
That the Best of the Companions of Goodness chose as messengers.

6. He who in his youth did the best of deeds
Is the most deserving of the elderly to lead.

7. You have an iron hand but
Behind the iron is a heart and mind.

8. Among all people you judge with truth
And you see obedient generosity as virtue.

9. Whoever comes satisfied, you comfort. Whoever
Turns away stubbornly finds with you excuse and respite.

10. You do not fear breaking an oath
As long as you dislike making the oath ignorantly.

11. Disputes either disappear or remain,
While the country’s destiny is higher and dearer.

12. Can stubbornness return someday when no
Place remains for the claims of the obstinate?

13. You did not leave the honorable people’s call to God
Ungrateful, worshipping a calf.

14. You have been gentle with Egypt’s nature
Hoping to transfer that nature.

15. Out of wisdom and chivalry, your care
Has deprived those unfit to lead.

16. The few may become many,
And the many may become few.

17. The martyrs of jihad passed away while today
They are martyrs to vile passions.

18. A leader’s supporters are in the grip of the reckless
Who exploited their devil and gained power.

19. An idol deceived its worshippers and they were
Deceived, making that worship a mockery.

20. They betrayed the one who grants might
And so they met from him disgrace and humiliation.

21. In the heedlessness of days they attacked him,
Then fled from him as birds startled from their nest.

22. One who willingly leaves office
Is not like one forced from office.

23. Whether he raised himself or met
Disgrace, the exiled one faces fire and embers.

24. Anger may accumulate until you see
Him old yet anger made him a child.

25. Their protector against what they did wrong
Was the march of time, their register.

26. They blamed you for choosing them, and fooled
Those they betrayed, becoming more lost.

27. Had they succeeded, they would have followed you. But you
Forgave them, while their mediator turned away.

28. The story ended with you being wise,
You who played the perfect, complete role.

29. March on in power like Al-Farooq and raise
Your independent people from the throne.
