1. The mandate you bear, O messengers
Is easy for you, the means and paths are facilitated

2. Go as you wish, for the people have entrusted
You with the matter, coupled with hope

3. The message of the Nile and Pyramids awaits
Kingdoms of the earth, for ages and dynasties

4. You have chosen to establish truth with your lives
Best if words and deeds hit their mark

5. Those who yesterday gave all they were asked
Today most deserve to regain what they gave

6. And how can men be blamed for ignorance when
They were not allowed to investigate all they did not know

7. What happened and passed was but reproach, not spite or fraud
Between the two leaders

8. Neither side transgressed against the other
Nor were motives infected with malice

9. One noble, one obstinate, the two rivals
Each a champion in his own domain

10. Was it not best to reconcile them
Had their callers been rational?

11. Whoever loves a youth of sterling character
Will one day rely on both

12. Woe to the zealotry if its adherents go too far
And woe to those who aided it or abandoned it

13. Seeking today to hide our warriors
From archers while we fight each other

14. What do the first of the free owe
If the hands of stragglers mimic the first?

15. Be to the one who paved and shortened the path
For you better than one who shepherds or connects

16. May you tomorrow have the upper hand
Of those who yesterday urged you to withdraw

17. I bid the caravan farewell auspiciously, and bid
The poetry of my soul farewell as it bears its load

18. And watch the lightning relate the best
Of what delighted countries and was celebrated

19. Aid every great one in your path
And ask how a man saves his people

20. Your adversary seeks decisive discourse—neither
Let him daunt you nor be shy of him

21. If you see a mountain of cutting iron on the shore
Let not the mountain startle you

22. If you see coats of steel adorning
The soldiers—let not the coats dazzle you

23. Truth has become stronger than your enemy
Desires and grudges cannot diminish it

24. Do not make light of a day in its hospitality
It is either life for your valley or death

25. Attend to it as an opportunity—the East is rousing
The West troubled, busy with calamities

26. If logic has the final say, though remote
It is logic that guarantees your hopes

27. Whoever acts on sound beliefs
Will lack neither stratagems nor strength

28. Take the proofs from your nation's past
And impressive present, growing and fulfilling

29. And do not heed those who clamored
Against the innocent, of claims and tales

30. Take as witness those guests who preceded you
In the fertile and sweet oasis of your morals dwelled

31. A faction they almost became
Traces of what they drank and ate remain

32. A generous homeland insisted on its independence
Whether people granted or refused it

33. People's freedom is the most precious
Of existence, whether exalted or moderated

34. What then of a group who strove for their right
To life, demanded or implored it?

35. Today the destined time for them
Is like a star, neither rushed nor stalled

36. Take it as a favor, love it after they apologized
For a while, fulfill it after they waited

37. If they do right, deserved praise for them,
and if wrong, it is the momentous accident

38. If you lift your protection from the valley
They have no substitute or replacement

39. The destiny of your nation till the end of time
Will be written by its righteous, not the white or black (clan)

40. They will emerge as honorable in it, and were not
Transgressors when they entered it
