1. I'm still in sorrow for the loss of Muhammad
He was the first son of my father and eldest of my brothers

2. Wishing I had known him
And gained his company and affection

3. Until this last one came, named after him
And resembling him in beauty and health

4. So I forgot the first with the last and was
Content with the youngest and my grief subsided

5. Until when my hopes were revived through him
Fate returned and he left abruptly

6. Resembling the one whose perfection he sought to attain
In his life, his death, and his affliction
