1. The camel saw the grass and craved it
And startled it to make it his food

2. But he saw a snake nearby
So he fled, turning away in caution

3. The grass thought he feared their might
So they laughed long in scorn

4. He called to them: Gently, my fear
Is of the neighbor I trusted, now turned to harm

5. Without him, I'd now fill my stomach
And your flourishing place would be empty
