1. You were enraged, and your rage was terrifying,
Truth snatches it away, a garden it seizes.

2. Is politics an art with rules
Among the tyrants, the wicked, the deceitful and the liars?

3. Leave them and their traits and their conference
Of the injustice they have read and written,

4. And they have bound themselves in the narrow, rugged pass and waited
For their caravans to be seen and hired.

5. Behind you, a neighbor whose enmity has passed
You have persisted in pleasing them as they have persisted.

6. And so between you time rules with what
Kinship and ancestry have not ruled between you.

7. O leaders of the East, the glory of the East suffices you
And these titles and positions suffice you.

8. The weak who fled from your tyranny have returned
Ambitiously assailing you after their defeat.

9. Seeking help in vain from one who seduced them,
And the sin they carried and mounted is not their fault.

10. Return to valor after gentleness, for it is yours,
Valor may do what speeches cannot.

11. The East has no refuge but in its strongholds
And truth is overthrown in the West, an exile.

12. Can your enemy rule in Lausanne
While below Lausanne there is only turmoil?

13. Curzon was no loyalist to his nation
Nor what the terrors and afflictions seek.

14. What is the adversary's argument, and time betrays him,
Against honoring the victims after they were defeated?

15. If they fought you all around your capital
Competing and warring over it.

16. Its abundant, plentiful oil is not your goal
But its people, neighbors, and friends.

17. You are not accustomed that some people bargain
Between what the aggressor takes and what he grants.

18. Do the Kurds desire their independence for a time
After the Arabs' independence has been tested?

19. The Prophet is no ancestor to the weak who turned
To the conqueror, revolting and claiming descent.

20. And they are the way to the Sacred House, which belongs to him,
And they are the causeway to the Farthest Mosque, which belongs to him.

21. A slave of the world, as those idols, statues and monuments were worshipped,
In every valley he has a throne built by a hand,

22. Whose pleasure is wrath, and whose kindness is toil.
He almost throws the doubting councilman

23. With the people's denial, insinuation, and insolence.
Does he renounce the greatest obedience to rule himself

24. With that plunder of brocade and gold?
And leave the highest assembly for an assembly

25. Like dripping glue or a slinking wolf?
In my heart is the whispering of conscience, and for me

26. In Mecca today are doubts and suspicion.
Hearts incline to the Sacred House, and no tribe

27. Leaps against its guards and pounces.
One who lacks a Creator of the varieties and clouds

28. Will not suffer drought or poverty.
The secrets of betrayers appeared and became known,

29. Though betrayers denied and concealed themselves.
The infant in the cradle is more rational in his clan

30. Than the adult whose mother and father were miserable.
O Turkish neighbor, the past is an admonition for you

31. You forsook them and turned away after they complained.
Yet they and you are equal in treatment,

32. If you distance, they distance, or if you draw near, they draw near.
And if your homelands were vacant, they would be satisfied,

33. But they belong to invaders who struck around them.
Did you split or gain independence, and to

34. Freedom or to slavery did they take you?
If you returned to virtuous conduct, you would have

35. A return and refuge to your companions.
No matter what blessings you seek for yourselves,

36. Tomorrow you will not exceed what they demanded of you.
And a call to the restorer of the East's ways

37. Stirred Damascus and pleased Aleppo.
It traveled like fleets escorting it,

38. Like mountains over it, the thundering masses.
It crossed India in its range, and its echo returned

39. Behind the seas, the rumbling of thunder raging.
I truly fear for a day upon states

40. That iron and flames will end them, by God.
So let no people terrify with what they lost,

41. Nor let any people delight in what they gained.
And a tyrant will seek respite and Hellfire

42. Thirst exhausted him or hunger consumed him.
The kingdoms of East and Islam are a reminder,

43. The East Aswan and Islam wailing.
Where is the trust and pact between you,

44. With the House plundered and Jerusalem usurped?
The glory of men is measured by what they sacrificed

45. Of free blood, not the tears they shed.
Defending the precious homeland and honor,

46. Sacrificing souls for it, which is obligatory.
And whoever desires a noble and pure life of honor,

47. The earth will carry him free or fiery sparks.
O visitor of the East, answerer without support

48. In the West awaiting consequences and watching.
The fate of each tribe after its journey

49. Is what the noble young men inscribed.
The discourse to them afterwards, tomorrow,

50. In the rest of the matter, be earnest or play.
Where is peace? And where are its workers?

51. It being the hope of the righteous and devout.
Each extends his goal beyond the unseen

52. And does not know what next month will bring.
