1. Oh, if only I were a sword of old
Or a cannon firing deadly shots

2. Or a towering, distant citadel
Or a cruiser smelling the fight

3. Or a soldier prepared to invade
Defending my people and my sultan

4. Striking the stubborn, habitual foe
Until I see my precious blood

5. Flowing amidst the ranks
And their brains splatter my limbs

6. As my body slowly decays
Or I gain victory over my enemies

7. And bend in proud celebration
With my banner shading their land

8. And stand over them as judge
So I’m honored amongst my people

9. And attain good repute and glory
Better than the despair that saddened me

10. Until in agony I lost my youth
With no cares but being filled with woes

11. By everything that will not restore the past
I complain of the foe and compose verse

12. But none answer my call
Nor mourn what saw my misery

13. God’s Caliph I remain, crying out
Striving in battle against afflictions

14. May the best of prophets stay pleased with you
And the Muslims live in goodness and peace
