فوق أرض الحمى وتحت سمائه

1. Over the land of zeal and under its skies
I send congratulations throughout its horizons

١. فوق أرض الحمى وتحت سمائِهْ
أبعث التهنئات في أرجائِهْ

2. I lived to witness in an age of blindness
The return of the sublime standard and the folding of its banners

٢. عشتُ حتى شهدتُ في مستوى العم
ر جلاءَ العادي وطيَّ لوائه

3. And Egypt saw on the anniversary of Ali
The return of its sultan to its people

٣. ورأت مصرُ يومَ ذكرى عليٍّ
عودَ سلطانهِ إلى أبنائه

4. In it, the withered blossom regained its life
And the ailing found the bliss of his cure

٤. ردّ فيها حياتَهُ البائدُ البا
لي ولاقى العليلُ نعمى شفائه

5. And history leaned out from the balconies of time
Lost in its winding paths and its imaginations

٥. وأطلَّ التاريخُ من شرفات ال
دهر في تيهِهِ وفي خُيَلائه

6. Filling the horizons with fragrance and light
From its conversations and its news

٦. يملأ الخافقين عطراً ونوراً
من أحاديثه ومن أنبائه

7. The impregnable citadel almost set out
In the morning of its feast, to give it glad tidings

٧. كادت القلعةُ المنيعةُ تسعى
في ضحى عيدها إلى بُشرائه

8. It is the most precious trust of Ali
Among the righteous leaders of its trustees

٨. وهي أغلى أمانةٍ لعليٍّ
في ذمام الأبرار من أمنائه

9. It's as if I can see him on this night
Among the purest of its martyrs

٩. وكأني أراه في هذه اللي
لة بين الأطهار من شهدائه

10. It's as if I can see all his conquests
In an hour of his evenings

١٠. وكأني أرى فتوحاته اليو
مَ جميعاً في ساعةٍ من مَسائه

11. Blessed be the year after sixty years
That came to erase its misery with its bliss

١١. حبذا العام بعد ستين عاماً
جاءَ يمحو شقاءَها بهنائه

12. Fate paved its summer for glory, good, and consent in its winter
And the victorious beloved came in his shyness after his old age and defiance

١٢. مهَّدَتْ صيفَهُ المقاديرُ للعز
زة والخير والرضا في شتائه

13. Accepting the peace of one who accepts reconciliation and imposes peace among his peers
Not avenging nor doubting, but the reckoner among his resolute men is upon him

١٣. وأتى الظافرُ المُدلَّلُ في خَش
يته بعد كبره وإبائه

14. Whoever's intention is forgiveness and truth, the enemy returns as a friend to him
And of his grace and favor upon him, is to see Egypt's people as his allies

١٤. يترضَّى أجل من يقبل الصل
حَ وفرضَ السلام في أكفائه

15. Other than being ungrateful to the ally, if his pact and loyalty do not avail
The Nile made a nation that secured it

١٥. ما تجني ولا استراب ولكن
ن عليه الحسيب من عزمائه

16. In its springs and all its parts
And existence extended from its banks

١٦. من تكن نيةُ السماح له وال
حقِ عاد العدوُّ من أصدقائه

17. The harvest of its planting and the surplus of its water
And the people concluded their great issue with the destined judgment of his rule and decree

١٧. ومن الفضل والجميل عليه
أن يرى أهلَ مصرَ من حلفائه

18. With the throbbing of hearts, he came to revive in the fluttering of the banner the spirit of its hope
The valley gathered its unity and its powers of leadership met

١٨. غير مغنٍ بأس الحليف إذا لم
يُغن ميثاقُه وصدقُ وفائه

19. In its arenas, and with him they extended to what its tears and blood longed for
And the sacred valley drew from its shepherd the means of its prosperity and comfort

١٩. ألف النيلُ أمةً أمَّنَتْهُ
في ينابيعه وفي أجزائه

20. And the faithful shepherd was reassured by the pillars of its pillars and the elevations of its structure
The ruler of the people is one who wins the hearts of the people, not one who delves into its entrails

٢٠. وأمدّ الوجود من شاطئيه
بِجَنَى غرسه وفائض مائه

21. And when authority is established, justice is the guarantor of its extension and permanence
My poetry is little, and the right of this day to me

٢١. وانتهى الشعب من قضيته الكب
رى بمحتوم حكمه وقضائه

22. Is the valley's fullness and the fullness of its space
Illness preoccupied me from my duty to it

٢٢. بِخُفُوقِ القلوب جاء يُحيِّي
في خفوق اللواء روحَ رجائه

23. And that's my excuse to its father of poets

٢٣. جمع الوادي شملهَ وتلاقتْ
في ميادينه قوى زعمائه

٢٤. وتمادتْ به إلى ما تمنا
هُ غواليِّ دمعهِ ودمائه

٢٥. واستمد الوادي المقدسُ من را
عيه أسبابَ رغده ورخائه

٢٦. واطمأن الراعي الأمين إلى مُحْ
كم أركانه ومُعلي بنائه

٢٧. حاكم الشعب من ينال قلوب ال
شعب لا من يخوض في أحشائه

٢٨. وإذا ما تمكن الحكم فالعد
ل ضمينُ امْتداده وبقائه

٢٩. قلَّ شعري وحقُّ ذا اليوم عندي
منه ملءُ الوادي وملءُ فضائه

٣٠. أقعدتني السقام عن واجبيه
وهي عذري إلى أبي شعرائه
