I was saddened that I lagged behind you,

6. Like one who got lost in a wasteland, abandoned by the caravan.
And if I decide for the good of my people,

7. Hoping to fulfill their rights, with a throbbing heart,
Whispers drive me, and longing pulls me,

8. So no driving pushed me, nor pulling held me back.
You blamed me, and if you knew my state and loyalty to you,

9. The blame would be on fate.
I am not hopeless of wishes coming true,

10. Even if consolation and remedy failed me.
It hurts the free that letters and messages,

11. Rather than cries, do not move them.
When will the tyrant stop oppressing us?

12. And the party of the loyal becomes the party?
The most of my struggle is to see Egypt free,
