1. Auspicious is your presence, august and benign,
For the East, secure and protected.

2. On this day evidence arose
And proof for Egypt shone clear.

3. The tryst of wishes was met faithfully,
Fate exalted its vows and preserved them.

4. And granted the trusted land a crowned ruler,
The worldapproved and faith triumphed.

5. The memory of your accession is joy
For your subjects, and strength for Egypt's crown and throne.

6. These messages and delegations are proof
That loyalty is creed and certainty.

7. So the sincere in their certainty pursue its discourse,
And its grace is coupled with tradition.

8. On your feast day the worshippers implored fervently,
Seeking peace, precious as it is.

9. Egypt was spared the afflictions of war, and indeed
China drew near and made peace with her.

10. What you approved of her days was enough,
And God approved what will yet come.

11. The surplus through which the warrior found rest,
The outcast escaped, and the captive grew calm,

12. And through which the world, suffering,
Found relief from enduring tribulations.

13. Men pass away, and iron tomorrow, yet not
The customs of men pass away, manifold as they are.

14. They war over transient rubble,
And the lover, alas, may kill the beloved.

15. Have mercy on the youth of kingdoms
Whose fields were despoiled, and whose years.

16. They were their families and homes’ wish
Yet loss anticipated loss before death.

17. Tombs contain stars fallen to earth,
And today branches imbibe poison.

18. Why should a shining world burn?
Why should a laden ship sink?

19. What does a destroyer hope for in a desolation
At which sights and eyes shudder?

20. Spilled blood raged until it almost
Outpaced the requited blood.

21. More agonizing than the flames of turmoil and their steel
Is grieving for its martyrs and dirges.

22. If the inhabited world could carry
The sorrow that has burdened the inhabited world!

23. Self-sufficient, unshaken by evil suggestions, doubts and fears,
Ignorance did not do what knowledge did.

24. Knowledge that exceeded bounds, recoiled, insane.
A crime that its people committed upon the innocent

25. So that generations and centuries strain under its weight.
They were, and from its fires and iron they remain

26. Lashed and whetted and sharp-honed.
If truth had sufficed religions and prohibitions

27. It would not have needed brigades and fortresses.
Woe to a people assaulted with a sword

28. As they were never assaulted by law.
More fitting for he who ate the living, and drank

29. The infernal blood and pus,
Than the strong in might, is one who

30. Strengthens the oppressed and dispossessed.
The weak hopes for fair changes from heels

31. While the disgraced fears even changes that empower.
Victory is too weak to please a tyrant

32. While around him captives moan and wail.
Deposing an unjust ruler is more deserving

33. Than rule that disgraces its victories.
The great army and its victories are more deserving

34. Of securing and restraining it.
I warned the unjust and each people concealed

35. Their intimate thoughts from me.
And now I dream of offering with my right hand

36. From behind the veil, a hand of peace.
The two sides will come closer and be equal

37. In every claim, creditor and debtor.
Perhaps the helper against crimes and harm

38. Will help goodness in the evening.
Not a truce in which the tyrant renews

39. His tyranny, but a lasting peace,
A peace that makes kindred of earth’s people, not

40. A humiliating peace that degrades the weak.
All desire peace, were it not for their fear

41. That peace is a ploy and deceit.
From the new land its pioneer called me,

42. And its president and wise Lincoln.
He hopes, with kindness as Jesus obtained,

43. And might as Moses, and riches as Korah,
To remove the shackles from every crowned head.

44. He seeks no rancor in this new era of brotherhood,
Every kingdom arose and after rising,

45. Came reformation and renewal.
This existence returned a pleasant existence,

46. With reform and improvement in its nature.
They shepherd and have mercy on one another,

47. No lingering vengeance or malice left buried.
For you, my heart, the kingdom poses

48. Great issues, as you wish for it.
In each of your days there is a season

49. To gladden loyalists and adorn them.
When you wish, Egypt is your sweetheart,

50. When you wish, Egypt is your burrow.
The year turned radiant and smiling,

51. With the hawk and two eaglets.
The countries rejoiced at the good tidings,

52. Yearning for their hopes and for intimacy.
He sends greetings of peace to the people,

53. Auspicious are his days, and all has its time.
