You fly like me, and like me fiery

To every market, the soldiers of the past

5. Where should I go? Should I return
To return, as if I were performing a duty

6. You owned the airports and airplanes
While I eat (locusts) because I am worthless

7. And my kingdom is a tent of winds
That go restless and come gentle

8. Do you cry? No, no and who would you grieve for
If you are oppressed or miserable

9. And what would happen if you screamed
And shed plentiful, flowing tears

10. The close friend would turn to you
And forget you when the hostess passes

11. And give you two pills of (Aspirin)
A kind lad or gentle old woman

12. Perhaps no lad or old woman would see you
Nor would a neighbor notice that weak woman

13. Are you listening? No sound but the noise
And clinking of roaming cups

14. For seeing crying women has become
Familiar from prolonged tragedy

15. What do you fear? For what thing
Do you grieve? You have become frightening

16. For nothing precious remains with you
You lost chastity and the face of the chaste

17. At the door of (Khosrow) you flung your forehead
And on the day of (al-Saqifah) surrendered your breasts

18. And finally sold yourself in the alley of (Tu'ba)
The eyebrows of (Arwa) and the mouth of the (Noble)

19. Does (Washington) give you a face today?
Take it.. Good, try every rotten thing

20. For with this downfall, you may attract notice
Like news of a suicide in a newspaper

21. What to do, but when will you recoil
They say: you were once comfortable

22. When will you swiftly return to yourself?
To see the greenness of clean life

23. Will you come from the heart of a song of tears..?
Or from the trajectory of a missile?
