1. O you who run in pursuit of worldly things
There is no revival for one struck down
2. Withdraw, o easy target for archers
Whose arrows cause perdition
3. You did not fear a fire whose flames blaze
For one inclined towards it, there is perdition
4. I pardon you more than the moth
You know what the moth does not know
5. You seek it, the eye does not sleep
From it, nor does the eyelid settle
6. Who has for you from drink
Whose drinking increases thirst
7. Leave it, for its seekers are rabble
Whose minds were deranged, so they perished
8. And quench your thirst, and be like a people
Who died in chastity, so they lived
9. They did not want it, so they were sated
And its wanters are the thirsty ones
10. It is as if our hopes are mirages
And we are bewildered and scratched
11. Our hopes have expanse
Through which our lifespans contract
