1. O you who is deceived by time
In its passions, having cast off restraint
١. أَيُّها المُغتَرُّ بِالزَمَن
في هَواه خالِعَ الرَسَنِ
2. Your love of this world and its adornments
Is a sedition that has engulfed you in trials
٢. حبُّك الدُنيا وَزينَتها
فتنَةٌ عَمَّتك بِالفِتَنِ
3. You remained, though circumstances bear witness
Clinging to it insistently
٣. ظَلتَ وَالحالاتُ شاهِدة
عاكِفاً مِنها عَلى وَشنِ
4. So abandon it, for its adornment
Is an adornment that has declined and lost value
٤. فَاِهجرنها إِن زينتها
زينَةٌ شانَت وَلَم تَزِنِ
5. It has deceived you, for it is ugly
Inwardly, though outwardly beautiful
٥. خَدَعتك إِنَّها قَبُحَت
باطِناً في ظاهِرٍ حَسَنِ
6. And put forth what you find joy in
Before the prolonged affliction and sorrow
٦. وَلتُقَدِّم ما تُسَرُّ بِهِ
قَبلَ طُول البَثّ وَالحَزنِ
7. It is as if your delay never ceased
And as if your world never was
٧. فَكَأن أُخراك ما بَرِحَت
وَكَأن دُنياك لَم تَكُنِ
