1. How short is the name of love, O love's woe
And how long is its torment upon the enduring lover
١. وَما أَقصَرَ اِسمَ الحُبِّ يا وَيحَ ذا الحُبِّ
وَأَطوَلَ بَلواهُ عَلى العاشِقِ الصَبِّ
2. It rolls smoothly off the tongue
And it hurls whoever endured it into dire straits
٢. يَمُرُّ بِهِ لَفظَ اللِسانِ مُسَهَّلاً
وَيَرمي بِمَن قاساهُ في هائِرٍ صَعبِ
