1. The darkness, when their cups are raised on high,
Is as the glowing day in radiancy.

2. And round about their goblets seems to shine
A gleam as of the morning's glancing eye.

3. If in the gloaming their bright beams were shed,
The dawn o'er heav'n its light would cast as high.

4. Their tints on bodies living lustre fling,
And with delight the very soul supply.
