1. O my companion in captivity, come visit me
Where the she-camels of hope have knelt down

2. And alight at a generous halt, prided
By its loftiness over the halts of loved ones

3. A halt that gladdens breasts in beauty
And gifts for pilgrims and yearners

4. A sanctuary shone with holy lights
Veiled from the forbidden of the pious

5. And a station that perfumes the universe
With a scent, its breeze being sweet aromas

6. Shout good news to the comrades and call gently
The prayer of the seeker at the best door

7. The prayer of the refuge-seeker, not limited
From attaining the sought desire and reward

8. Hasten to it as a visitor to the shrine of my father Amr
The plain of guidance, vast in expanse

9. The imam, protector, who conferred jurisprudence
With links of correctness upon religion

10. And presented evidence like a sun whose light
Emerges radiant without any veil

11. Following the way of the Messenger and what
Was revealed from his Lord in scripture’s text

12. And the men of hadith, all authentic
Transmitted from him in the soundest books

13. And his is the school of thought the people
Relied upon for ages of eras

14. And the Levant’s sons after each prophet
Shined, and after each companion

15. And appeared by a name by which the smile
Of Beirut’s meadows beamed from clouds’ veil

16. And an imam of guidance stood among the people
Like David stood in prayer’s sanctuary

17. Granted knowledge as he was granted wisdom
From his Lord and clear speech

18. The sea’s shore from him is a sea of knowledge
Abundant in tide atop every surge

19. That is not equal, one being bitter brine
And it freshwater roses without harm

20. A spring you the hopeful continue to quench
Thirsts of wishes with the best drink

21. Delight in it, O aspirant, for success
And salvation from tribulations

22. And seek nearness through it to God, your Master
And say: O Opener of doors

23. And hope for honor by lowering the wings of humiliation
Perhaps you may attain raising of the veil

24. Call unto Him and you will receive from the One called
Do not say your prayer is unanswered

25. O Euphrates of dew, to you and else
Dew of others is mirage gleam

26. O imam of guidance, at your door lies prostrated
Discarded, thrown upon the threshold

27. O succor of people and rain of gifts
And protector of the lowly and sublime in worth

28. Be my intercessor with the Overseer, O you
Closer to Him than a bow’s breadth

29. And save me from occurrences that have shaken me
And aimed at me with arrows and warfare

30. I cannot withstand injustice, my patience with it scarce
And my affliction grave

31. Shall I become prey to my time
While I am under your protection, lion absent
