1. All the living besides the Omnipotent shall perish
So fear Allah, O people of insight

2. An ocean of tears is not worth
A drop from the clouds of forgiveness

3. And the forbearing one who sees death sweeter
Than a life that passed in the abode of humiliation

4. Verily, patience in adversities is a shield
Unbroken by the arrows of events

5. And the brother of patience and anxiety, if
The arrows of destiny penetrated, are equal

6. Verily, people's ignorance of their terms is good
Gained from the Giver of Favors

7. If man knew his share of life
He would spend it in worries and sorrows
