1. Praise be to Allah, perfect praise
For the joining of the cord of love

2. Then prayer and peace upon Allah
To the one exalted, highest praise subliming

3. Muhammad best of creation, the Chosen One
And his family and companions, the virtuous

4. Protecting the sanctity of affection
Fulfilling their covenant with mankind

5. Upon them be clouds of God’s pleasure
Quenching thirst at the spring of exalted life

6. As long as the breezes of yearning blew
Stirring the heart’s branch, ardent and enamored

7. Or the doves of melancholy cooed
In the garden of a fervent, passionate heart

8. And so this revered, auspicious means
Motivating messenger, source of hopes

9. For us, composing with haste
In the thread of this epistle’s text

10. I send sincere greetings
From a loyal friend, pure of fealty

11. Full moon of piety, polestar of companions
Star of the finest gentlemen’s horizon

12. Muhammad Son of Wolf, of boundless merit
Attaining most ennobling traits

13. When his exquisite writ arrived
Gladdening souls thereby

14. Bringing to mind the eloquent missives
Their wonderful face revealed

15. Long have their subtle meanings
Captivated this yearning soul

16. Beholding its form, beloved salutation
Reviving the heart of this smitten youth

17. Woven into it, the epistle’s replies
Adorned with friendship’s jeweled necklace

18. Conveying greetings of affection
To the sincere friend of untainted traits

19. And likewise to the peerless imam
Al-Qadiri, luminescent full moon of glory

20. I mean our erudite master
Whose excellence monuments acclaim

21. Full moon of guidance, sun of supreme knowledge
Jewel in the crown of rigorous minds

22. Noble among the virtuous and wise
Preceding all in merits’ race

23. May his days boast of him
Each era prides itself on the exalted

24. Likewise to the guardian of Sacred Law’s sanctuary
Impregnable by his eminence

25. Full moon, ensign of scholars
Whose judgments guide rulers

26. One whose noble name I dare not utter
For he is graced with honor

27. Especially the noble, pedigreed patron
Scholarly practitioner, full moon of merit

28. Our refuge, Abdel Ghani Rafii
Eloquent author of prolific treatises

29. And matchless in this age
The valiant Abdullah, I mean An-Nasri

30. And to the most honored, cherished friend
Full moon of piety, Umar Effendi At-Tilli

31. And Sheikh Abdel Qadir Al-Husseini
And eminent, lofty Hussein At-Tadmuri

32. And others named by this supplicant
And all who love to listen

33. And all who ask about my state
Or seek the Exalted Threshold

34. I hope you’ll overlook my inadequacies
Still falling short of your nobility

35. For it was written hastily
In a moment too brief

36. You remained in the clarity of my intimacy
As long as the musk seal of this epistle lingered
