1. When life constricted around us,
And no young man among us reached his goal,
١. وَلمّا ضاقَت الأَسباب فينا
وَلَم يَبلغ فَتى مِنّا مُناهُ
2. We hoped to gain God’s grace and bounty,
But He turned away and left us to fend for ourselves.
٢. رَجَونا نَيل رزق اللَه فَضلاً
فولّى ثُمَّ أَعطانا قَفاهُ
