1. Woe to this crescent moon of bent stature
For it has severed breaths amidst breaths
١. تعس الهِلال القَهوجيُّ لِأَنَّهُ
قَد قَطَّع الأَنفاس في أَنفاسِهِ
2. This crescent moon is demise itself
Yet they erred and placed no stick to its head
٢. هَذا الهِلال هُوَ الهَلاك وَإِنَّما
غَلطوا فَلَم يَضعوا العصا في رَاسهِ
