1. I beseech the best of messengers, Taha, the most generous of prophets
Our intercessor who guided us, the clearest of paths

2. He who is greatest mercy to the pained
And greatest blessing to the hopeful

3. He is help and rain overflowing with bounty
Whose palms rain plenty and never withhold

4. When we beseech him for his sanctity
And status, misery and anguish disappear

5. I call upon you, O King of the Magnificent Kingdom
The prayer of a servant, brokenhearted and yearning

6. That you make our days in power last
With all glory and perfect support

7. And grant our overseer prosperity and success
With your merciful gaze in this momentous event

8. For he is the heart encompassed with kindness
And kindness is the finest adornment of a man

9. He demonstrated to us justice from the judgements of his wisdom
What was of doubt in this matter is no longer unclear

10. He set right each crooked path
Until proper balance was achieved

11. He gained providence with clear conquest
Until he closed what gaps there were in the Levant’s lands

12. Until it came to be that the structures of resolve sing his praises
The integrity of opinion has protected me from error

13. His noble traits are generosity from bounty
And his nature is justice and fairness in private and public

14. None compares to Mays, Ma’n or Sayf ibn Dhi Yazan
Nor those who followed in the earliest generations

15. He is hoped for and feared, so he pardons with the pardon of the Capable
And grants the downpour of rain clouds generously

16. He revived the lands as he revived the people
As intended, direct in word and deed

17. Until it came to be that the tongue of the age praises him
It filled the meadows and mountains and plains

18. I hoped for certain that he would have mercy on me
So I spent the night while my heart was freed of worries

19. I thought well of the one I hoped would pardon
And my hopes in his lasting kindness were not dashed

20. And often the slanderers enviously blamed me
Yet God knows best what is pure and impure

21. They secretly plotted against me, but the Overseer
No schemes or tricks are hidden from Him

22. And God knows I am innocent of their vanities
I am neither unstable nor negligent

23. I protected their homelands until they became
A secure sanctuary, in settled lands and nomadic trails

24. All fell contentedly asleep under guard
While I dispelled the fog of sleep from my eyes

25. The misfortune of my endeavor turned against me
And I tasted only bitterness, not sweetness

26. Fate reads to me from the transcript of destiny
What was written on the tablet since the beginning of time

27. My imprisonment has been long, and worries persist
Joined between attachment and separation

28. I complain, perhaps complaining will bring me fortune
In the court of the pillar of the state

29. My Master, show kindness to this lowly one, for
Patience has been weakened by poverty and illness

30. How you have graced the healthy with generosity
Until they attained the fruits of your hands' bounty

31. And how you have shown compassion to the likes of me
Yet fate prevents your kindness from reaching me

32. Look to my state and have mercy on the poverty of a family
That has endured dire living without respite

33. Thirteen souls, helpless
And young, with no guardian amongst people

34. My situation shames me from fully disclosing it
To you, leading to burdensome length

35. If you would grace me with release, I would thank
The Bestower, not myself, for this bounty

36. Indeed, the One who granted you virtue from His hand
Gave you every perfected quality
