1. Take it from the most beautiful gazelle
Whose breath relates the scent of ambergris

2. Joy brought on the morrow when a meadow exulted
With a greeting of lilac blossoms for you

3. Adorned in its hue, saffron-yellow
Most fair in its view, sweetest to sense

4. It grew jealous in guarding its beauty
So it shades it even when shade’s not its purpose

5. It draws together like two lovers meeting
After long separation and longing

6. And when it grudgingly begins to bloom, it shows us
A color leaning towards gemstone cores

7. As if its leaves were polished
By the splitting of green silken veils

8. And the onlooker sees it as a shining star
Dressed in mourning for the loss of Canopus

9. The waters befriend it with elegance
So when does its shape ever escape sight?
