4. One who never ceased to attack and feed his guests

7. One who always enlightened those who sought his knowledge

8. One whose sublime traits his panegyrists extolled
Dictating his lofty descriptions to the writers

9. One whose virtuous character brought delight

10. By God! What a catastrophe his loss has been

11. The noses of Samhar and wild beasts were rubbed in the dust

14. And the necks were collared by his favorsโ chains
The weighty necklaces seemed light as feathers

15. O Quraish! Harmony has gone so who will unite you
After Ahmad as he had done before?

16. O Hashimites! Your assault brought ruin
And I see souls madly desire it

17. Gone is he who revived and renewed
The glories of the Prophet's family from past generations

ุขุซุฑู ุงูุฃูุณูุงูู
18. And fate has shrouded in dust him who in battle
Used to clothe his foes in coats of mail

ุญูููู ุงูุฑูุฏู ูุณุฑุงู ุนูู ุงูุฃูุนุทุงูู
19. I swear a solemn oath not given lightly
An oath of truth, no false words from me

20. No special group gained from your company

21. Then death severed their continuity
After you the sea of glory and loftiness went dry

22. Its water giving way to drought
And the souls of the noble became disconsolate

23. When you left without one to bring solace
The lamps of hope changed into gloom

24. Their glow into smoldering wicks
And the pillars of every tribe crumbled

25. The riffraff resembling noblemen
Even the lions, for your sake, were left without fury

ูุชุดุจููู ุงูุฃูุฐูุงุจู ุจุงูุฃูุนุฑุงูู
26. Their claws now like worn nails
From whom can generosity, bounty or grace be expected

ูุบุฏุช ุจุฑุงุซูููููู ูุงูุฃูุธูุงูู
27. Or aid and rectitude henceforth?
Alas! All noble qualities have surely

28. Flown away on wings in alarm
O gem the days granted us awhile

29. Then snatched you back to the shells
You were the finest of all blessings

30. The acme of nobility and chieftains' pride
Wondrous that when gloom covered your face

ูุบุตููุฉู ุงูุฃูุดุฑุงูู
31. Its light still pierced liked a flirtatious glance
Wondrous that your bier did not make friends collapse

32. When it rose carried upon shoulders
Wondrous that your grave-digger did not bury you

33. Between his own ribs, pressed to his breast
Wondrous that over your grave there rises not

34. Two moons, equal in brilliance and splendor
The people were amazed to see your funeral

35. So they hurried to circle around it
They emptied their pockets over you and hastened

36. To bite their fingertips in regret
Tears flowed from their eyelids

37. Crying torrentially over you
No wonder, for in your precincts they lived in plenty

38. Without need for a garden or scenic lookout
If they shrouded you, your body always donned

39. A silken cloak of decency and virtue
If they washed you, you will always remain

40. Pure in word, deed and attribute
If they embalmed you, you will stay forever scented

41. An aroma permeating villages and wilds
God sent blessings and good pleasure before their prayers

42. And graced you with acceptance and kindness
My master, father, hear the call

43. Of your suffering son, worn by long estrangement
You were righteous and caring towards me

ูุถูู ููุฏ ุฃูุถูุงู ุทููู ุชุฌุงูู
44. And your kindness was all-encompassing
But today, why have you shunned me for so long

45. And abandoned me like an indifferent lover?
You never accustomed me to your aloofness

46. And my deep sorrow for you knows no bounds
But no! The hand of fate has folded you

47. And you are unable respond to a questioning petitioner

48. I would save your body from the soil of graves
But I will remain true to you

49. Until we meet at the final judgment
God will always grace you with mercy

50. And honor you with the finest gifts
And on my part, greetings forever

51. Will enshroud your tomb continuously
