1. If I set sail on a ship, braving the seas
Turning my back on India, carefree and elated

2. Why should the King of India frown
When none can command or forbid me

3. Didn't he heed his enemies and see
How their tricks against me slowly unfold

4. So he strung his bow of injustice against me
And shot arrows of arrogance and pride

5. He closed the routes around me
Trying what tolerance could barely bear

6. Until God willed to fulfill His decree
Defying him according to His desire, not the king’s

7. So He deflected the arrow back at him
And granted me priceless honor

8. He carried me on the ship of salvation
Sailing smoothly through the sea of hardship

9. Thus I became safe from those fears
And my affairs eased after hardship

10. And how many evil ones had shot arrows
Whose shafts now will neither feather nor fly!

11. God’s making remains forever faithful
With Him, His servant is saved unknowingly

12. As if I see my ship spreading its wings
And taking off like an eagle from its nest

13. Yearning as it anchored on Jeddah’s coast
Renewing my joy at the first sight of land

14. The sweet breeze from Mecca arrived
And the Sacred House and Black Stone appeared

15. My ride proceeded tirelessly
To the land of piety and righteousness

16. To the Glorious Ka’aba, the Sacred House
Loftier than any towering palace

17. I circled it seven times and kissed its corner
To the Black Stone I came, taking shelter

18. And I had my fill of Zamzam’s cool water
Dispelling the anguish deep within

19. There I found joy and bliss
And attained what I had hoped for in life

20. I hastened to complete the Hajj willfully
As Allah had prescribed for people, a great reward

21. I headed to those holy sites, hopeful
For Allah’s forgiveness of sins and evil

22. I came to Mina with a joyous heart
Heedless of the crowded throngs

23. I was quick to stone the Jamarat
Casting at the heart of separation fiery stones

24. Three days we stayed, would that it last forever!
Till the tenth we left Mina behind

25. Then I bid farewell to the Ancient House
Vowing to return for as long as I live

26. I set my sights on Taybah, heading
To the Best of Destinations, on land and sea

27. To the Lord of the land whose righteousness
Abounds, so I came from sea to shore

28. To God’s Best Creation as all do witness
The Chosen One in the world of creation

29. I kissed the threshold where he resides
Above which heaven and stars do shine

30. I rubbed my face in his soil
Sweetly perfumed after washing away impurities

31. I said to my heart your burning is quenched
To my soul I said you are safe from distress

32. To my eyes I said behold the Radiant Light
That illuminates the universe, do you know

33. Do you know whose station this is that rose
Above the celestial spheres – have you no clue?

34. This is the station of Mustafa the Chosen One
Muhammad the Most Praised in the Highest Company

35. The Messenger of Guidance, the Sea of Blessing
Source of Virtue, Destroyer of Harm, Dispeller of Affliction

36. He is the Selected One from Hashim’s clan
What an excellent, pure branch and towering tree!

37. Through him the Most High brought glory to Lu’ay’s line
And he succeeded by the arrows of Kenana and Nadr

38. God decreed that none shall gather virtue like him
So he attained the utmost superiority and pride

39. The Merciful sent him as a mercy to creation
Saving them with his Light from darkness and unbelief

40. The All-Knowing entrusted him with His secrets
A most worthy confidant, trusted and discreet

41. He took him by night on a journey to the heavens
Then he returned as the horizon shone at dawn

42. He revealed to him the Honorable Quran
Speaking of what occurred and what is to come

43. He revealed it all one Blessed Night
But what can you know of the Night of Power!

44. Then he recited it to him distinctly
As guiding stars that illuminate the horizons

45. Verses detailing every wisdom
Precise commandments beyond enumeration

46. He appointed him with the sword to remove injustice
Supporting him with opening and victory

47. Through him the sun of guidance shone radiantly
Dispelling from the world the darkness of misguidance

48. His character, if it touched barren rock
Would make it tenderly weep like the bereaved soul of Khnasa

49. His generosity, were it the sea’s source
Its water would flow sweetly with no ebb

50. When fate frowns on the downtrodden
He meets them generously with a cheerful face

51. When the clouds refuse to rain
His blessed fingers bring plentiful showers

52. Bestowing freely on the destitute
Relieving so much hardship and freeing many captives

53. And how many sublime traits the Hashimite Prophet has
Too numerous even for praise and thanks!

54. To you O Messenger of God I now come
Plunging into difficult seas that test all patience

55. For the woes that have afflicted me
None can guide me out of them but your mercy

56. Quickly heal this ailing soul
Tossed between maladies by fate

57. Save me dear master without delay
From harm, affliction and the dangers of the sea

58. May Allah bless you eternally
As long as the meadows grow green

59. And your Family of utmost purity
And Companions of unblemished character
