1. The clouds watered the land of Hejaz
And rained on the pastures of abundant virtue

2. And greeted with honor, the abode of the living
The generous kinsfolk, honored and glorious

3. They protected the truth when called upon
Protectors of the living, alive and vigorous

4. They protected their honor with steadfastness
Every man of merit, dignified and gracious

5. They feared disgrace and shame
May their Protector spare them from disdain

6. They were wary of any youth that approached
So they shunned all suitors, cautious and wary

7. Had they entrusted their protection to flirts
It would have spared the zealous their caution

8. Among them are many virtuous, radiant ladies
Whose glowing brows rival the dawn’s shine

9. They captivated all hearts with love and desire
And with glance of an eye, struck down all lovers

10. They have guards protecting them before being named
And fathers who attach them to glorious ancestry

11. They reciprocate love with affection
And for my brother, love, do not reciprocate

12. She rose like the full moon in its brilliance
And the beauty of the garden in its swaying

13. Oh what an era of love fulfilled
With the ecstasy of the real and the metaphoric

14. My nights are pure rapture in love
And the dress of revelry, ornate and artistic

15. I care not if I miss companionship
Or if opportunities pass me unexploited

16. And I swoop down on flirts in the dark
As a falcon swoops down on its prey

17. I say to my companion, as our group proceeds
And singers serenade to the beat of drums

18. From Hejaz dawned a light for us
That glitters and flutters about the fortresses

19. May God water Hejaz and its inhabitants
And enliven the abode of refinement and grace

20. My heart yearns for the people of Hejaz
So alleviate my longing for the people of Hejaz
