1. A maiden of India appeared,
In her attire, amid curtains and screens.
١. وَغادَةٍ من بَناتِ الهند قد برزَت
في زيِّها بين أَسجافٍ وأَستارِ
2. When she passed by sad in the refuge, I said:
“Blessed is the one who walks! Nay, blessed is the one who travels!”
٢. فَقُلتُ لَمّا سرت في اللاذِ مائِسةً
يا حبّذا السير بل يا حبَّذا الساري
