1. It is time for you to restrain your censure
And comfort a longing one with the coolness of your greeting

2. Peace be upon her, how far her mounts have galloped
And how close she has come in her journey and sojourn

3. I endured her constant disdain when I
Had the strength of perseverance, fearing not the mending of her severance

4. I thought her harshness was affection
That would lead with my kinship to love after her estrangement

5. But now that passion has wounded my heart
With an incurable illness that knows no remedy

6. I cannot be cold towards the beloved
After her, does the soul desire but its oblivion?

7. If I say “It is time for her to be pleased with acceptance”
The enemies say “This is the time for vengeance”

8. The slanderers claim I have surrendered her
Yet here I am, leaving the judgment to her arbitration

9. My heart refuses but to return to her pacts
And to protect her in her family and tribe

10. The defamer berates me for her
Yet what folly, her excessive blame

11. Can anyone blame love itself?
While my heart is bound by its obsession

12. I weary of one who tries to dissuade me
A lover who sees attainment in devotion

13. I hoped to meet her again after our union
As destined, but how can I obtain its knot?

14. I wish for the breeze to spread her fragrance
With every gust that passes through Najd or Khazama and its meadows

15. The rain has watered the land of Najd
With every pouring shower

16. And her land would not be watered
Were it not for the stopping place of her encampment

17. Yes, those prairies were watered for her sake
And abundant were the pastures of Randa and Bisham

18. A passion kindled by the Malikis that remains
Ever bound by the ties of devotion and its severance

19. Do you now know that passion, this passion?
And that my heart is subdued by its bridle?

20. Save for the agony that ceaselessly distributes
And divides itself, nothing remains of me

21. Enough! The tribulations of time have been sufficient for me
For my heart is prone to its arrows

22. I brace against its changing fortunes night and day
While earnestness precludes any rising

23. To God I complain of the calamities that never cease
To alarm me even in my sleep

24. Were it not for my hope in the grace of fate
I would have wished from Him relief from her disease

25. Then the woes of time and its treachery
Would have passed her by, and she would be bound in obligation

26. He is the most glorious, the luminous and brilliant
Whose light has illuminated the darkness of its gloom

27. The highest of the sublime, singular in its pride
And the noblest of its family, guardian of its sanctuaries

28. He has protected the abode of winners, the lofty and supreme
And soared to the highest of its summits

29. Bearing the responsibilities of divine law, arbitrating
Strengthening its permitted and forbidden

30. Through him the garden of bliss flourished and the branches
Of the lofty dripped with the clouds' outpouring

31. A youth who sees wealth only to spend it
If others viewed it, only to seize it

32. He has countless favors, beyond reckoning,
Every morning all seekers flock to gain them

33. He was reared by the chiefs of glorious Hashim
Whose glory stars shone before his weaning

34. Dawning as celestial bodies in the heavens of its nobility
He is their full moon in its perfection

35. Master of masters, its elder and youth
Lord of the exalted, its peak and twin summits

36. You have ascended above the loftiest summit
A station of brilliance, the moon itself below your station

37. None who aspires to reach you can catch up
To your sublimity, unless diminishing themselves

38. You were ransomed by a people whose greatest honor you were
And the state of a nation you were the backbone of

39. In it an ignoramus plotting
Only to attain your lofty heights, outstripping you

40. Impossible! How many fools contended with you in ignorance
Leaving only their snouts in the mud!

41. How many who envied your blessings went astray in foolishness
Though you guided them from the wasteland

42. You forgave them, pardoning and bestowing kindness
And harmony rained down upon them

43. I am certain that my own transgressions
Will find easy forgiveness, not condemnation, from you

44. Will you favor me with acceptance, a glance
Through which hopes will attain their highest aspirations?

45. Despair nearly defeats me
When I look upon what they have wrought through defiance

46. Yet your noble nature, shining its lights
In veils, gives me hope

47. How then, when you promised and granted me
A gift I see all attainment of wishes in receiving?

48. You are one whose action precedes his words
Though many men's actions fall short of their speech

49. My greatest desire is my kinship to you
Though plentiful its gifts and features

50. Take this, Nizam al-Din, the son of its order’s founder
