1. O owner of this most sacred scene
That delights the eyes and souls

2. And the most noble Najaf has appeared to us
With its signs, the most fragrant shrine

3. And the white dome has shone
Its tiles gleam like chrysolite

4. A sacred precinct whose merit
Neither the Aqsa Mosque nor the Temple can match

5. Exalted by the one whose rank herein
Is beyond what the celestial sphere can encompass

6. It wishes that the gravel of its land
Were the stars of night and silk brocade

7. And that feet were envious of us
For hastening to its noble thresholds

8. So stop at it and kiss its dust
For it is the most pure, most holy station

9. And say a prayer and peace
Upon him whose origin and roots are pure

10. The caliph of God Almighty
From whose light comes illuminated guidance

11. The soul of the Chosen Prophet Ahmad
And his grandfather the most noble chief

12. The knowing scholar, ocean of dew
And righteousness and piercing star

13. So our night by his light is luminous
And our day by his brilliance sunny

14. I swear by God and His manifest signs
That save and do not submerge

15. That Ali ibn Abi Talib
Is the beacon of the religion of truth that cannot be erased

16. And he to whom God granted knowledge
Of what is in His books is their index

17. He encompassed the knowledge which none encompassed
Not a Valius nor a Hermes

18. This is the Commander of the Faithful by whom
God's laws are guarded

19. And God's proof whose light
Is like the dawn, obscure to none

20. By God, none denies it but a man lost
In misguidance, fallen into error

21. The declaimer of truth without fear
Where the people's speaker is mute

22. The charger into fray and dust of battle
When the intrepid hero takes fright

23. His cloak on the day of pride is piety
Not satin, brocade, and figured cloth

24. He is clad in a robe of piety envied
By satin and silk

25. O elect of God whose excellence
Is thanked by speaker and mute alike

26. Your abject servant has come to you lonely
From his sins hoping for kindness

27. Roaming the land and sea, nothing
Makes him lonely or keeps him company

28. Now on a ship sailing the sea
Now traveling on camel-back

29. In every desolate place, he sees its thorns
As if aromatic herbs and basil

30. Until he came, hopeful, to your door
And whoever comes to your door does not despair

31. I call upon you, O Lord of mankind, certain
That my prayer to you will not be contained

32. So save me from the misfortunes of a time
That seeks to tear my body apart forever

33. And if not for my hope in you
No shelter or sitting-place would give me peace

34. May God bless the noblest
Master in both abodes matchless

35. The warbler has not trilled in any garden
Nor have its branches waved in joy
