واستطرفُ ما أُهدي
2. But I looked for gifts to bestow
Only to offer praise
٢. فما استطرقتُ للأهدا
ء إلّا طُرَفَ الحمد
3. For if we praise you
We fulfill the sacred duty
٣. إذا نحنُ مدحناكَ
قضينا حُرمةَ المجد
4. And to spread praise for one like you
Is wiser than rejecting generosity
٤. ونَشرُ المدح في مث
لِكَ أذكى من ثنا الند
