1. The fragrant splendid-viewing one,
Was created from musk and light,
١. وَزاهِرَةِ المَرأى مُعَطَّرَةِ الشَذا
قَد اِبتُدِعَت خَلقاً مِنَ المِسكِ وَالنورِ
2. She bleated like a startled gazelle, though
She walked like a cat, unstartled.
٢. رَنَت مِثلَ مَذعورِ الظِباءِ وَإِنَّما
مَشَت مِثلَما يَمشي القَطا غَيرَ مَذعورِ
3. She lined her white fingers with black kohl,
As musk is extracted by camphor pens.
٣. وَقَد طَرَّفَت بيضَ البَنانِ بِأَسوَدٍ
كَما تَستَمِدُّ المِسكَ أَقلامُ كافورِ
