3. Advice to the lover is allowed,
But acceptance - never.

5. Like the gazelle its mouth was wanton
From what it had browsed on the mead.

6. O gazelle, take my heart and roam
For you are a stranger among men,

7. And browse, for my tears are a chain,
My love a meadow, a lush terrain.

9. The garden plots of the guardsman
Grew on their cheeks the rose of shame.

10. I planted it with a glance
And harvested it with hope.

11. In its languid moment, an idol, a charm,
It kept vigil the lids of the sorrowful one.

12. Continuance in it is burdensome,
The mind of the wise is perplexed.

13. It gave me the cold of reproach
The chill of blame it fanned.

ุจูŽุฑุฏูŽ ุงู„ู„ูŽู…ู‰ ูˆูŽู‚ูŽุฏ ูˆูŽู‚ูŽุฏ

14. Had I kissed it that cold would have melted
By my breath, that frost.

ูกูค. ููŽู„ูŽูˆ ู„ูŽุซูŽู…ุชูู‡ุง ู„ูŽุฐุงุจ
ุจูุฒูŽูุฑูŽุชูŠ ุฐุงูƒูŽ ุงู„ุจูŽุฑูŽุฏ

15. Then had I turned the cheek of a twist
Its adornment only the braid.

ูกูฅ. ุซูู…ู‘ูŽ ู„ูŽูˆูŽุช ุฌูŠุฏูŽ ูƒูŽุนุงุจ
ู…ุง ุญูŽู„ูŠูู‡ู ุฅูู„ู‘ุง ุงู„ุบูŽูŠูŽุฏ

16. In the stirring of the graceful gazelle
And the quiver of the tender branch

ูกูฆ. ููŠ ู†ูŽุฒุนูŽุฉู ุงู„ุธูŽุจูŠู ุงู„ุฃูŽุบูŽู†ู‘ู
ูˆูŽู‡ูŽุฒู‘ูŽุฉู ุงู„ุบูุตู†ู ุงู„ุฑูŽุทูŠุจ

17. There runs for my tears a brook
From which springs a rod.

ููŽูŠูŽู†ุซูŽู†ูŠ ู…ูู†ู‡ุง ู‚ูŽุถูŠุจ

18. Are you a houri, did the Garden send you in truth?
For the report hearts were cut to pieces for you,

ูกูจ. ุฃูŽุฃูŽู†ุชู ุญูŽูˆุฑุงู‹ ุฃูŽุฑุณูŽู„ูŽูƒ
ุฑูุถูˆุงู†ู ุตูŽุฏู‚ุงู‹ ู„ูู„ุฎูŽุจูŽุฑ

19. And it was said โ€œThis cannot be mortal!โ€
Umm al-Safa is anguished, distraught,

ูˆูŽู‚ูŠู„ูŽ ู…ุง ู‡ูŽุฐูŠ ุจูŽุดูŽุฑ

20. From the pine, Umm al-Kadar.
My love is purified by tribulation,

ูขู . ุฃูู…ู‘ู ุงู„ุตูŽูุง ู…ูุถู†ู‰ู‹ ู‡ูŽู„ูŽูƒ
ู…ูู†ูŽ ุงู„ู†ูŽูˆู‰ ุฃูู…ู‘ู ุงู„ูƒูŽุฏูŽุฑ

21. The ways of passion are wondrous strange!
My longing is like an alembic -

ูขูก. ุญูุจู‘ูŠ ุชูุฒูŽูƒู‘ูŠู‡ู ุงู„ู…ูุญูŽู†
ุฃูŽู…ุฑู ุงู„ู‡ูŽูˆู‰ ุฃูŽู…ุฑูŒ ุนูŽุฌูŠุจ

22. With the fires of separation more fragrant.
You were strange in your surpassing beauty,

ูขูข. ูƒูŽุฃูŽู†ู‘ูŽ ุนูุดู‚ูŠูŽ ู…ูŽู†ุฏูŽู„ู
ุฒุงุฏูŽ ุจูู†ุงุฑู ุงู„ู‡ูŽุฌุฑู ุทูŠุจ

23. And so my tears became a Maghrib.
The scope of my love is everything,

ูขูฃ. ุฃูŽุบุฑูŽุจุชู ููŠ ุงู„ุญูุณู†ู ุงู„ุจูŽุฏูŠุน
ููŽุตุงุฑูŽ ุฏูŽู…ุนูŠ ู…ูุบุฑูุจุง

24. And my tears are hands that give drink.
So listen, obedient slave,

ูขูค. ุดูŽู…ู„ู ุงู„ู‡ูŽูˆู‰ ุนูู†ุฏูŠ ุฌูŽู…ูŠุน
ูˆูŽุฃูŽุฏู…ูุนูŠ ุฃูŽูŠุฏูŠ ุณูŽุจุง

25. Who sang to disobey the overseers.
This overseer - how I wish he were not so quick to suspect!

26. O my lady arise, let us go against
The one who suspected the overseer.
