O moon of the night, wear out bodies.

١. قَمَرُ السَّمَا يُبلِيي الثِّيَاب وأنت يَا
قَمَرَ الدُّجَى تَبلَى بِك الأجسَامَ

2. If your glances tear my patience and composure,
Then they are arrows.

٢. إن مَزَّقَت أثواب صبرِي والحَشَا
مِنك الجُفُونُ فَإنَّهُنَّ سِهَامُ

3. My heart grows sickly due to their sickness, and perhaps
The healthy is made sick by the sick.

٣. سَقِم الفُؤادُ لِسُقمِهِنَّ ورُبَّمَا
أعدى الصَّحِيح مِن السِّقَامِ سِقَامُ

4. Whoever desires to reach you must cross the sea of destruction,
For the masses have reached you, O Zubair!

٤. مَن رام وصلَك فَليَعُم بَحر الرَّدى
إنَّ الزُّبَير أتَى بِهِ العَوَّامُ
