1. How can I listen to the blamers
Despite my patience with the blamers
١. كَيفَ أُصغي لِلعاذِلَين
مَعَ صَبري لِلعاذِلَين
2. My adversary in passion
His love a heart and an eye
٢. إِنَّ خَصمي لَدى الشَجى
في هَواهُ قَلبٌ وَعَين
3. I am sincere in love
I am truthful with two witnesses
٣. أَنا في الحُبِّ صادِقٌ
أَنا صَبٌّ بِشاهِدَين
4. So if I get weary
What's between us remains steadfast
٤. فَإِذا رُمتُ سَلوَةً
حيلَ ما بَينَنا بِذَين
5. And I'm like a happy lad
In my youth swearing two intoxications
٥. وَأَنا كاِبنِ هانِىءٍ
في الصِبا حِلفُ سَكرَتَين
6. My excuse stands with the beauty of one
Whose love pierced me without blemish
٦. قامَ عُذري بِحُسنِ مَن
هِمتُ فيهِ مِن غَيرِ مَين
7. A full moon carried
On a rod of silver
٧. بَدرِ تِمٍّ مُرَكَّب
في قَضيبٍ مِنَ اللُجَين
8. His face a garden and life
His saliva is sweetened by two drinks
٨. وَجهُهُ الرَوضُ وَالحَيا
مِنهُ مَعسولُ ريقَتَين
9. The fragrance of his two gardens
Increased my weakness
٩. حُسنُ رَيحانَتَيهِ قَد
زادَ ضِعفاً بِالجَنَتَين
10. If he would give me of his saliva
It would be an antidote for two poisons
١٠. لَو حَباني مِن ريقِهِ
كانَ تِرياقَ عَقرَبَين
11. God adorned his cheek
To torment me with two moles
١١. زَيَّنَ اللَهُ خَدَّهُ
لِعَذابي بِشامَتَين
12. So he would succeed due to
The merit of beauty twice over
١٢. ذاكَ كَيما يَفوزَ مِن
شيمَةِ الحُسنِ بِاِثنَتَين
13. He was unique due to this one
Who beauty reigned over twice
١٣. كانَ فَرداً لِأَجلِ ذا
مَلَكَ الحُسنُ مَرَّتَين
14. So everyone has a sign
While he contains two signs
١٤. فَلِكُلٍّ عَلامَةٌ
وَهوَ يَحوي عَلامَتَين
15. How can I fear his uniqueness
When he has attained two gentlenesses
١٥. كَيفَ أَخشى اِشتِراكَهُ
وَهوَ قَد حازَ رَقَّتَين
16. He sees nothing as problematic
While he recites two proofs
١٦. لا يَرى الشَيءَ مُشكِلاً
وَهوَ يَقرا لِبَينَتَين
17. And my evidence for what
I have said are the two ministers
١٧. وَدَليلي عَلى الَّذي
قُلتُهُ ذو الوَزارَتَين
18. A word that has not been given
Two names by people
١٨. لَفظَةٌ لا تَرى لَها
في الأَنامِ مُسَمَّيَين
19. So it pertains to one alone
With nothing but two enmities
١٩. فَهوَ يَختَصُّ واحِداً
لَيسَ إِلّا بِالعَدوَتَين
20. A lord from Qudha'a
The best trustee of two lords
٢٠. سَيِّداً مِن قُضاعَةَ
خَيرَ سامٍ مِن سَيِّدَين
21. He took generosity and supremacy
His persona from two heritages
٢١. أَخَذَ الجودَ وَالعُلا
شَخصُهُ بِالوِراثَتَين
22. From his father and grandfather
So he is beauty with two beauties
٢٢. مِن أَبيهِ وَجَدِّهِ
فَهوَ حُسنٌ ذو حُسنَيَين
23. Like Bishr among
The tales of An-Nair
٢٣. مِثلُ بَسارينَ في
أَساليفِ النَيرَين
24. If he sought glory above it
The two would become submerged in it
٢٤. لَو بَغى المَجدَ فَوقَهُ
أَصبَحا فيهِ فَرقَدَين
25. I swear by him
And the praying and the fully armed
٢٥. إِنَّني مُقسِمٌ بِهِ
وَالمُصَلّى وَالمَأزَمَين
26. None can equal him in supremacy
Or the two rulings
٢٦. لا يُوازيهِ في العُلا
وَبِهِ القَضِيَّتَين
27. My refuge, O Abu Ali
My hope from every corner
٢٧. موَئِلي يا أَبا عَلِيٍّ
يا رَجائي مِن كُلِّ أَين
28. What has befallen me is enough
Of disheartenment and breach between
٢٨. قَد كَفاني ما حَلَّ بي
مِن خُمولٍ وَفرِطِ بَين
29. And my discarding of every debt
And my taking of every debt
٢٩. وَاِطِّراحي لِكُلِّ دَينٍ
وَأَخذي لِكُلِّ دَين
30. Do not leave me after estrangement
Wishing secretly, yearning
٣٠. لا تَدَعني بَعدَ الجَفا
أَتَمَنّى خُفَّي حُنَين
31. You know my inner secrets
Without doubt, by name and by eye
٣١. أَنتَ تَدري سَريرَتي
دونَ شَكٍّ بِاِسمٍ وَعَين
32. And my witness to everything
I claim is a well-guided youth
٣٢. وَشَهيدي في كُلِّ ما
أَدَّعيهِ فَتى رُعَين
