1. We have fallen into sins and afflictions
And in a time of decline and confusion

2. Goodness and the virtuous have perished
While the ignorant have gained pride in their disgrace

3. The leaders have sanctioned all that is improper
So no one stops wrongdoing among the people

4. Thus the free man has become a slave to the owned
And the free man has no esteem or stature

5. One is occupied by greed and hoarding
While the other is heedless, drunk with distraction
