1. She is the leader in crisis, blowing
Enveloped in the haze of sand an isthmus

2. The darkness eased from the dawn’s glare so it grew intense
Next to the palms a standing and lodging

3. As if the curly clouds, its dripping prolonged
On the swaying sand dunes, a marsh imbued

4. On it the steps of the walk, their lengths stretched out
The waist of separation, when their steps march forth

5. With periods it dwelled, with solitude decrepit
The wing of a night rider flashes from the dark, ripped

6. They grasp the pride of beauty, its plains and market
For from it domes shined and cracked

7. Young cheeks with beauty dotted,
And hair with youth imbued

8. So O creaking of the living, by God detour
Upon a chain from my tears that flows

9. And O breaths of the wind, gently with my soul
For in my heart there is a fire, whenever it rages it blows

10. And O fire of my heart, why does your ember whenever
I pour water on it, not calm?

11. And O rustling of leaves in the branches, shorten
For I have none to complain to and you have no screecher

12. So O neighbor they roamed, with the strangeness of yearning
And their abode forgotten, nor the love copied

13. For you in the south of the earth a respite and theater
And for love in my flanks an anchorage and pier

14. Who can convey from me threats of bile
With which the boldness of enemies is probed and pierced

15. Each day an assault of enmity
That scatters or thorns of malice pulled

16. And the breadth of plotting, if with its breath
Pillars of bliss almost crumbled

17. They insult me with the strikes of stupidity
And my tolerance for them shortened and breached

18. I had not cared for the nonsense before you
So I panic from the meager chastity’s rip

19. My aspiring soul refused accepting humiliation
And my repelling arrowheads steadfast and preached

20. Haughty with honor, picking
When I resent the stench of smallness and puffed

21. And my share of days of a kingdom, with its honor
The seasons of ascension chronicled and sketched

22. The lineage of God’s shade on earth, if it flows
For him a memory with the sultans etched

23. Kingship aspires to him and he is compliant
And the crown leans on him and he is its prop

24. And the prey of kingdoms bows subservient
When the elders and young gather around him encamped

25. And the brave armies yearn to him disorderly
To raid in the land of enemies and be breached

26. Hoping to be granted and engraved with his name
And the tails of honor in metals hammered and etched

27. Enemies raise their children for his arrows
While the falcon, the starling multiplied and hatched

28. His are the plateaus of honor leading forth and the heights
Of glory and the towering unmatched

29. Kings who revived the caliphate after
Its enemies monopolized and encroached

30. Their swords for security and fear flung
And their hands with money and blood drenched

31. Theirs are the breaths of might and pardon, one
A torrent and the other trickling and leeched

32. Burdensome when the guards gather around them
Weightless when the rewarding caller shouts

33. Aiding the generosity his namesake victorious
From God blessed, the auspicious starred and beseeched

34. He built Islam’s dome with the sword after
Its foundations crumbled and nearly breached

35. He leads the quintet which he flooded
And the vertex became addled and latched

36. When he glanced at them, they froze for him
And equally melted, young and aged

37. They have no color unless when one who strips exposes
Nor tremor unless when one who laughs snorts

38. Atheism knew since the victory of true guidance
That this upright religion has no repealer

39. Tomorrow, he and his sons amid raging battle
Uprooting a trunk and green branches ripped

40. And if they await in ambush from them
Then the people from it the young stalker will breach

41. His are all the roaring winds
Prancing in their field boastful and breeched

42. Upon them the dyes of blood as if
Cloaked between spearpoint and sparkle and cackle

43. They secured the villages for the beasts and birds, so they drank
And bellies from their towns were filled and hatched

44. A warning to a people who missed the path of guidance
So they were confused, lost in misguidance, slipping and patching

45. A warning to them before the relentless one
And a threat from which the hearing shrinks so it clenches

46. Beware them of God’s wrath, with it
Hot faces are deformed and contorted

47. As if I see raging heads and arms from them
Falling just as the cane stalks when crushed

48. Beyond the clarity of truth they hope for its repeal
But for truth there is a tied covenant, unbreached

49. Your service while my life still fresh, its spring
Lush, and the ornaments of youth engraved

50. I roam in your days like one of my wanderings
On an excursion, when the caravan extends

51. And I carry of your secrets every grave
That straitens the generous chest, so it winces

52. And draft in counsel pages whose folds
Are spells to resolves copied and sketched

53. And advise you in solving every interpreter
With it order is grasped and entrenched

54. I fear that I reap the fruit of acceptance
I return to a bit of living on which I’m unleashed

55. I take refuge in you from my stumbling's waylay
It misguided me, and no guilt have I smeared

56. So show kindness, loss has ruined me and drained
My times of a gait that pleases and bursts

57. And leave me not to the events, they
Make me sweat the sweat of exertion and simmer

58. And speak well of me to the days, for they
Follow you in what they dictate and copy

59. You have warded the zealous warriors from my blood
And the necks of a people crumbled and breached

60. And you created for me a refuge, striving
Over a body in which the soul has no breath

61. May your watering others protect you, you are
For them a duty in every ordeal and screech

62. The days do not lack you, for you are
For them perils in which flashes and embers seethe

63. You have restrained the zealous warriors from my blood
And the necks of people crumbled and breached

64. And you constructed for me a soul, striving
Over a body which for the spirit has no breath

65. May your watering of creation protect you, you are
For them a burden in every affliction and screech
