1. My Master, more generous is he whose shade I seek refuge
I consider him and consider him for my righteousness

2. My dwelling when security has nestled its pillow
And in fear he is my fortress and weapon

3. For the means of etiquette between us
Are flaws, though its wing has joined my wing

4. I confide to you the essence of my state, summarized
Between insinuation and explicitness

5. I am with my Master in the best of states
In the prime of his auspices and places of comfort

6. My state has been well, and my life pleasant
My hopes emboldened, and my goblet of wine flows full

7. I yearn to join him, though I fear that after him
I will walk in desolate valleys

8. And my love of abode and nestlings
Vain desires that withdraw when I determine my ambitions

9. Are you one who shows me favor?
Other than the dimwitted beast

10. One who paves the way, if I stay with you
To ample, breeze-swept prominence?

11. One who barters my gratitude, seeking
From my merchandise the greatest profits

12. So that I will repay your kindness
And your kindness will repay my success
