كم ليلة ساهرت زهر نجومها

1. How many nights have I stayed up, the flowers of its stars
And the air from the sighs of my passion is wan

١. كم ليلةٍ ساهرتُ زُهْرَ نجُومها
والجوُّ من أنفاسِ وجديَ شاحِبُ

2. I tend the sky and its star wears mourning
Perplexed, its paths are blocked to him

٢. أرعى السماءَ ونجْمُها متلبِّدٌ
حيرانُ قد سُدَّتْ عليه مذاهبُ

3. As though it is a sea with surging billows
As though in it there is a drowned swimmer

٣. وكأنها بحرٌ يُعَبُّ عُبابُه
وكأنه فيها غريقٌ راسبُ

4. And you see in it the mother of stars like a stream
In a garden wherein is a melting pleasure

٤. وترى بها أمَّ النجوم كجدولٍ
في روضةٍ فيها لجَينٌ ذائِبُ

5. And her daughters a flock of gazelles arriving
Or departing or passing by or drawing near

٥. وبناتُها سربُ الظِباء فواردٌ
أو صادرٌ أو جازيٌ أو قاربُ
