1. A man's experience of certainty
Is great help for his matter

2. And he who experiments without knowledge
Has no adviser to guide him

3. So he walks blindly on the path
Neither blind nor seeing

4. Master knowledge, then experiment
For only the expert succeeds

5. What's apparent in books is of no benefit
And leads to much misguidance

6. The essence is the rock and the tool
Secondary, arranging it is easy

7. The wisdom of this veil is a secret
And comprehending its balance is difficult

8. So be patient if you seek, be patient
For that is the grave quest

9. And pray to God for sustenance
For He is the One Able
