1. The youth leads his people by his deeds,
Yet he is not the most generous among them.
١. يسودُ الفتَى قومَهُ بالفَعال
وليس بأكرمِهمْ مَحْتِدَا
2. And from the essence of the sword, iron was made,
At a value of several times its own.
٢. ومن جوهرِ السيفِ صارَ الحديد
بقيمةِ أضعافِه عَسْجَدَا
