1. O Messenger of the King, my soul aspires
Yet my sins hinder and obstruct

2. How often I longed for acceptance, but
The pretentious fraud has no place

3. Whenever I say I have attained righteousness
My misdeeds refute me with evidence

4. It's far-fetched that hearts steeped in sin
Would heed advice or rights

5. Sins shackled me, nay intoxicated me
So dawn never breaks, only gloom

6. Neither old age cautioned me, nor was I
Cautious, though it's the dye of ruin

7. Each day of separation has upon leaving
A sword that pierces my dove

8. What is my excuse after fifty years slipped by
Like flashes of lightning across the sea

9. Of life's capital I gained naught
Except sorrow and longing's ache

10. And yet hope remains steadfast
Neither slackening its grip on me nor it

11. O intercessor on the day of judgement, intercede for me
Before the gates are shut tight

12. With my prayers, my fervor and greetings
Are heralds aspiring to delight

13. Perhaps through you I may gain a refreshing reply
That guides me towards your abode

14. For the return of greetings from you we know
Is true and verified news

15. So blessings and peace be upon Ahmed
He is musk, his scent finely diffused

16. May Allah have mercy on one who prays for his brother
Where latecomers hope to arrive into the fold
