1. O hot wind, a trust bound to you
Calls upon the people of passion through you

2. Thanks, as the breeze emerged at dawn
And dwelt in the flowers' nectar lamenting

3. Increasing from its good tidings, taking provision
From its diffusion, selective, in control

4. Until it robbed the gardens of their fragrance
And came upon the homes, bidding farewell

5. For God, a dirham, and none but Him
Possess, excite, and confuse the minds

6. Of all the past that has crumbled like it
So the inspired one knows not which of the two

7. A people, when the time yellows from dew
Filled time with generosity and nobility

8. Delaying at every position of disgrace
And if faced with vileness, stepping forward

9. The clay of the dovelike canal spread
With affection, support, and crumbling

10. Competing to the heights as if they
Were in an arena that raised darkness and redness

11. At the peak of eternal glory, they indeed
Are nobler than the comets' tails, affiliated

12. Clans of an epic, pillars of felicity
Who attained glories and ancient pride

13. Circumstances brought me, by their meeting’s blessing
So I walked not leaning on the one veiled in darkness

14. They felt my direction and sniffed
My matter, so I said to them, “I fell with the rain”

15. I kept deceiving them and they kept being deceived by me
And they saw presenting my talents as profitable

16. So I remained gathering with wit and amusement
Have you seen the rain clouds when they intend

17. As if their gifts and their clothes
Were war spoils for them to distribute

18. So I went forth with that which in some of it
The stubborn soul counts not, nor refuses

19. I will clothe them with lasting praise
That remains at the heel of time embroidered
