1. O my two friends, you were both guided
And shown the path of righteousness

2. You were protected and met with
Good fortune at al-Mu'arras and al-Muqayyil.

3. Divine care watched over you both
During travels and while settled.

4. You were enriched with endless wealth
When fate turned cruel.

5. You roamed through Izkhar
With its fragrant breezes and lofty peaks.

6. You stayed in Shamah
With its beautiful sights and spacious valley.

7. You trod the hill of As-Safa
And crossed the valley bed of al-Masil.

8. You were blessed and fortunate
To visit the bosom friend of al-Khalil.

9. You drank from Zamzam
The pure and flowing secret of the wellspring.

10. You picked the fruits of your wishes
With the great reward at Mina.

11. You touched the Pillars like returning pilgrims
Bidding them farewell.

12. You left those sights
As witnesses to your fine character.

13. You inscribed them with virtues
Like a fertile palm heavy with fruit.

14. With all that you reaped in this life
Whether it was little or plentiful.

15. Ardor prevailed over grief
For it is best to resign oneself.

16. The virtuous ladies intervened
For they have eminent lineage.

17. Their number passes
As they flow ceaselessly.

18. If they despair, they do not
Cease being virtuous and praising.

19. Their ardor makes them
Yearn for the land of palm trees.

20. As if the soil of Ahmad
And its lovely basil fragrance

21. Were guiding them
To the best guide.

22. Until you reached the blessed grave
Within a mile's distance.

23. And you fell before the tomb
Humbly kneeling in submission.

24. Prostrating in its soil
Like a slain warrior fallen.

25. Do you remember your brother,
O my two friends, as he says,

26. And perform his prayers
And greetings to the Messenger?

27. Do you say "Amen" and supplicate
For acceptance and response?

28. Or do you forget, as many
Forget the little for the much?

29. Rather, you remember, and perhaps
The one dwelling there is remembered.

30. As long as you remain
In the shade of glorious protection,

31. You have gathered the honor of devotion
For the length of your long lives.
