1. I bitterly complained of the house where sorrows attacked me,

Until what Allah wills comes to pass

3. Words that rouse and provoke come from one who has lost children
When he conversed with the tribe of Hayyan

4. If Khundaf leaves out of fear or rivalry
I will summon the tribes of Qais and Ghatafan

5. We may detain right until it gets beyond us
And right detains us wherever it finds us

6. We built for our heirs a glory we praise
That is how we inherited glory from our forefathers
