1. The deceivers called you impure,
Though they cast ashes in eyes that saw clearly.

2. Had they been fair, they would not call you chaste,
But they slandered chastity and made it ugly.

3. God made you beautiful and chastity is its veil,
It wouldn't have been so clear to inquiring eyes.

4. Days when hearts turn devout again
And your sublime beauty is their aspiration,

5. Days when eyes look to you reverently
And honoring purity is an essential duty,

6. Days when your slender figure sways
Like a branch in the breeze of youth.

7. Days when your glance shoots arrows
And the archer takes aim and slaughters.

8. Days your lips are a treasure of pearls
Hidden like a flower when in bud.

9. Days your cheeks are molded silver
Outshining flowers with their glow.

10. Days your face is like the dawn adorned
With curly locks wandering joyfully.

11. Days your body is a temple of glory
The pious bowed down and praised their God.

12. O daughter they blinded, so they never
Understood your beauty, though it spoke clearly.

13. They hurled you into a pit of darkness
Where no paths remained to guide or teach.

14. They married you off, no blame on them,
Though rashness like this is truly ugly.

15. None among them a true loving friend
To prescribe the cure or advise gently,

16. A beautiful woman must surely wed
The man she considers worthy.

17. Your nature refuses the wearying fetter,
The body's cheap but chains are heavy.

18. So you broke them and followed desire's course
For the stumbling, as if that were worthier.

19. The sin is theirs in truth, you followed your heart
Which won't budge from its destined boundary.

20. O if only they'd buried you in a grave
Where darkness resides, mourned by the bereaved.

21. Your tale spread widely, but the death
Of chastity today is a greater tragedy.

22. Today your stature is withered, your glance confounded,
Your lips are parched, your cheeks faded.

23. Today your cheeks are idle, your face futile,
Your body a stage for what's ugly.

24. Beauty died in your eyes and your flaming cheeks
Were cremated in embers that kindled fiercely.

25. Vices are like poisons, so protect yourself
Lest the flower of beauty be plundered completely.

26. They said you've repented. I said, tears that pour
Can wash away sin when they flood freely.

27. If tears have cleansed you, your beauty returns
Like the morn, radiant, fresh and beaming.

28. Your alluring eyes torment me, setting hearts
Ablaze with their flames, stirring confusion.

29. To see you distracted disturbs my soul
With sorrow that shakes and rends me.

30. Though I hated gardens, for they are
A playground for all, an open stage,

31. Were it not for their vitality and purity
You'd see all people shun them completely.

32. So when you rise above wrongdoing, chaste again,
I will be first to ignore and pardon fully.

33. If you repent, the Lord is forgiving,
But people in this world are not so lenient.

34. Some are of mixed temperament,
This one errs, and that one corrects.

35. They see not the light descending from the Divine
Gently glowing, opening hearts and expanding.

36. How many reformers has God sent
Yet their nature remained while the reformer perished.
