1. Is it a dream or am I awake,
As I look around this place?

2. The days have brought me what I hoped for,
So it's fitting that I thank the days.

3. It stopped me at the home of one for whom
The angels themselves were but servants.

4. The clan of Ja'far, the Prophet's cousin—
In them I seek refuge from misfortunes.

5. A people who illuminated the paths of truth;
Without them there would only be darkness.

6. To them Gabriel often descended from God,
Extending greetings and peace.

7. They taught us the road to every
Guidepost and explained all the laws.

8. I delighted in their smiling Bāsim,
Who quenches the thirst of the protected.

9. I have no fear of poverty or drought now that
I have attained the full moon and added clouds.

10. What I heard of their generosity
Drove me to the sea to complain of my life.

11. Whenever he wished, he claimed precedence
In the two excellences, brandished swords and pens.

12. You would see him giving chase at times,
And a hero when disaster struck.

13. Listeners are amazed during fasting when
I stand to serve them wine from it openly.
