1. Visiting the Prophet's grave is the utmost wish
If only I could attain it before death, I would succeed

2. All my life has passed in futility
In play and heedlessness, I see it bears no fruit

3. Vain hopes occupy our minds
And we cannot comprehend the goal

4. Increasing desires thereby lessen life
Be it little coveted or ample

5. The reins of glory are in Ahmed's obedience
And before him lay the treasures

6. Aspiration from him for wealth and riches
So the angels bowed and he was mighty

7. I claimed in praising him he would save me
I reaped and in me lay no refusal

8. I erred but returned to guidance
And the symbols to my heart from him grew clear

9. Weakness and old age averted me from pleasures
So I divorced the daughter of the lowly, now aged
