1. Greetings upon the Chosen One from the family of Hashim,
And the one who was sent to mankind and jinn.

2. He ascended on the night of Israa from the land of Makkah,
As he came on his night journey to Al-Quds.

3. He reached a place that no prophet or angel reached before him,
A prophet, not an angel, and was granted intimacy.

4. His leadership was adorned with the raising of the heavens,
And his ascension surpassed the brilliance of the moon and sun.

5. Ask Khosrow, for on the day of his appearance,
He was certain that the Arabs would overcome the Persians.

6. I was delighted with what I composed in his praise,
So I became after blindness more eloquent than a storyteller.

7. The dawn and the night are equal for the one longing for him,
Who starts the day with intense love, and ends it the same.

8. My heart, bright white, held the secret of loving him,
As secrets are held in the self, engraved in rock.

9. I will kiss the soil of the grave, the grave of Muhammad,
For from it I would quench my thirst, from its pebbles.

10. Greetings O God of creation, in intimacy and distance,
Upon that body laid to rest in the sand.
